Solar Radiation Sunburn/ Heatstroke Wear sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. Use brolly for shade and drink regularly 1 x 2 = 2
Cold / Wet Weather Influenza/ Hypothermia Wear appropriate clothing and footwear 3 x 2 = 6
Rat Urine Weils Disease . Report all instances of unexplained fever to your GP asap. 3 x 2 = 6
Stings/ Bites Allergic reactions Wear insect replellant. Avoid insect nests. 1 x 2 = 2
Ticks Lymes Disease Check body for ticks. Only remove ticks with a tick removal tool. Report and unexplained fever or rash at the bite site to your GP asap. 3 x 2= 6
Slippy/ Uneven ground/ access Personal Injuries Wear appropriate footwear and watch your footing 3 x 2 = 6
Falling into water Drowning/ Hypothermia Wear appropriate footwear. Take care at the waterside. 3 x 2 = 6
Medical Conditions Personal conditions endangering yourself Its your duty of care to advise other anglers of any medical condition and what to do in an emergency 5 x 2 = 10
Electrocution Death/ Severe burns Do not fish or walk with a fishing rod/ pole in the air during electrical storms. Always adhere to the warning signs near overhead power lines. 5 x 2 = 10
Abuse and physical violence Personal harm/ injuries Carry a mobile phone to contact the police. Never put yourself at risk - walk away if you feel threatened 5 x 2 = 10
Interaction with other canal users Personal harm/ injury and damaged tackle Be aware that the public can pass directly behind your fishing peg. Before casting, shipping a pole check the towpath in both directions. Keep tackle off the main walking area. 2 x 2 = 4
